2025 Clarity & 2024 Highlights
Fourteen years feels like a long time to be doing the same thing, yet most days I still feel as though we are just getting started.
If I’ve learned anything throughout these years at the helm of [L]earned Media — it’s that knowing who we are, and who are ideal clients are, may be the most important aspect to being successful.
With each new year comes time for reflection. Every late December and early January I find myself pondering this very thing: who are we and who are our ideal clients?
Understanding this at the core has and continues to enable us to thrive in a market filled with ~120,000 marketing agency competitors (sources have reported in the US alone).
Heading into year 14, [L]earned Media has never had such clarity.
Who are we? Big enough to deliver, small enough to actually care. A team of 40+ professionals hand-selected for each unique project, working across 55 clients in 2024.
We look at every relationship as having 100-year potential and there is no project too big or too small for us to tackle with the utmost care.
Care as defined by every client having my cell phone number and knowing full well that I will answer the phone EVERY SINGLE TIME that they call.
My clients know that I lay awake at night thinking about what more we can be doing to impact their business, and what tasks did not get completed today that must be tackled tomorrow.
My clients know that the CEO of THEIR AGENCY is proactively checking in with every single team member, and not just expecting greatness, but inspecting it on their behalf.
My clients know that 99% of the year their agency CEO is putting in the time (at his treadmill-desk of course) day in and day out, with no illusions of what it means to be a small business owner: no shortcuts and no outsourcing of leadership.
As DIY marketing tools continue to become consumerized (i.e. Canva, MailChimp, ChatGPT), what will never become automatic is the last 10-20% of finesse that elevates a brand or business from being part of the sea of sameness, to standing out, gaining market share and acquiring better customers.
[L]earned Media’s value is putting 110% into that 10-20%.
Who are our ideal clients: Typically, our best clients are owner-operated firms where the CEO is living the same daily life, challenges and responsibilities as me. A client that cares equally about their business and customers as we do.
